Catholic Hipster: The Next Level by Tommy Tighe and a host of equally cool contributors is a feast for the mind and the soul. The book is a follow-up to the wildly successful The Catholic Hipster Handbook.
I had wondered whether there would be enough material to make this sequel worthy of the name, but indeed it is! Whether exploring the social justice of Dorothy Day, the uniquely Catholic feminism of St. Pope John Paul II, or the beloved Christian quirkiness of writer Flannery O'Connor, the book is incredibly captivating and deserving of high praise.
Each chapter includes a description of a hip Catholic concept, a brief bio of a cool saint, a forgotten prayer (which is well worth remembering), and a suggestion for living the faith.
I found the book equal parts comforting and challenging, which made it a joy to read. It would make a great stocking stuffer for the hipster in your life!
